The TeleRein coach is demonstrating to the rider how her contact will show up on the receiver, with a column of lights for each rein.
You can see how this works at the start when he drops his head and comes on to the bit.
He is clearly submissive but not yet in a true working trot..
You will see on the large screen that the rider's left rein constantly shows up as using more pressure than the right rein, regardless of the direction
Examples of tactful and clumsy riding
This is a Lipizzaner stallion, with a very energetic trot. The rider wearing Blue shows a secure seat and a supple, light contact.
Wearing Red, the same rider shows how a loose seat and over-strong aids will affect the horse's performance and how much it raises the score on the screen."
Jumping
In bad light you can just see the rider schooling for show jumping on a young horse, who has a strong tendency to hang to the left.
You will notice how much more pressure she keeps on the right rein to try and keep him straight.
Her contact is maintained throughout the approach and over the fence.
